In this study, I will attempt a diagnosis of industrial conflict in the Nigerian economy. While the effects of industrial conflicts on any economy could be fatal, the impact of conflicts not expressed in strikes could be more insidious. To enable us manage and control industrial conflicts, a critical view of the concept is imperative. The motivation for this study stems mainly from the observable disturbing pattern and high incidence of
industrial conflicts in the economy. Undoubtedly there has been astronomical rise in the number of industrial
unrest in Nigeria and the number of such conflicts ending in total work stoppages is also alarming.
