The purpose of the study was to establish the challenges faced by girls in female genital mutilation prone zones. This was necessitated by the fact that there have been witnessed high rates of school-dropouts, early marriages, low school enrolment and improper hygiene factors that are FGM. The study therefore aimed to establish the effect of school drop-out challenge on retention of girls; assess the effect of hygiene factor challenge on retention of girls; explore the effect of early marriage challenge on retention of girls; and determine the effect of low enrolment challenge on retention of girls in female genital mutilation prone zones.
