This article presents an examination of effectiveness of emergency preparedness system put in place in ECDE centers to enhance safety in Thika West District, Kiambu County, Kenya. Emergency preparedness involves state of physical facilities and infrastructure, general security, teachers training on safety, health and safety standards. The objectives include; examining school infrastructure and facilities in ECDE centers, to establish health and safety standard services to ensure safety, to investigate the implementation of MOE safety policy to enhance general security and to find out the extent to which stakeholders are involved in emergency preparedness.
