An Investigation Of The Effectiveness Of Coping Strategies As A Tool Mitigating Staffing Challenges In Public Primary Schools: A Case Of Gatanga District, Murang’a County
The study sought to investigate the coping strategies employed by headteachers in public primary schools in Gatanga District. The study utilized a descriptive research design using 211 teachers and headteachers. The study found that the student ration was 33 pupils per teacher indicate shortages in view of UNESCO recommendations. To adapt headteachers used supply oriented and demand oriented coping strategies such as improving working conditions, improving discipline and performance, employing and mentoring teachers. The headteachers also held regular meeting to address staffing challenges. Download
