There is an emerging concern over the rising cases of disasters in secondary schools which call for urgent need to investigate into disaster preparedness in schools. The purpose of this study was to carry out to an empirical analysis of the safety standard guidelines and the level of implementation in secondary schools in Githunguri sub county, Kiambu County. The study adopted a mixed methodology and triangulation mixed design. Data were collected using two types of questionnaires. The instruments were piloted in a school in the same division which was not included in the final study sample.
