An Investigation Of The Effects Of Reward System On Teacher Motivation: A Case Study Of Public Secondary Schools In Thika West District Kiambu County, Kenya
The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of reward system on teacher motivation in public secondary schools in Kenya. Researcher objectives were used. Study adopted mixed methodology. Expectancy theory by (Vroom 1964 was used. The researcher sampled 16 public secondary schools and targeted teachers and principals. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. Statistical package for social sciences was used to analyze it. Descriptive statistics and content analysis helped interpret the data. Conclusion was that low remuneration demotivated teachers. Recommendations were that teachers be given incentives and another study be done on leadership and teacher motivation.
