Improved indigenous chicken (IIC) play an important role in addressing food insecurity in rural households. Small scale farmers rely on IIC for income generation, wealth creation and nutritional needs. IIC are preferred for their faster maturity rate compared to the traditional indigenous chicken while also preserving the good taste and perceived health benefits of indigenous chicken. Enhancing the productivity of IIC is crucial for improving food security and nutritional outcomes. IIC production has remained low in Kisumu County, failing to bridge the supply gap of 3.9 million against a demand of 9.1 million chicken. Download
