Behaviour Of Parents Towards Early Childhood Education In The Volta Region Of Ghana
The sample for the study was 100 respondents. Instruments for data collection involved a five-point likert scale questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The design employed was a descriptive survey design. The study showed that most parents (self-employed businessmen and farmers) perceived formal education at the early childhood level as a bother since their children have nothing to gain from formal tuition, young as they are. It was recommended that preparatory programmes needed for teacher training on Early Childhood Education, must involve parents for them to appreciate the need for their children to have Early Childhood Education when included in such programmes.
