Preventing Criminality Through Enhancing Marital Stability In Nigeria: A Focus On Age, Religiousity, And Ethnic Affiliation Of Couples
The rising rate of crime in Nigeria is a source of concern for most well-meaning Nigerians. While it cannot be denied that a lot of factors abound why crime is on the rise in the country, this paper considered the role of marital instability as a factor predisposing juveniles to take to crime. From the administration of the Hudson Index of Marital Stability to Hausas and Ibibios who are muslims and Christians respectively. Older couples were found to enjoy marital stability while younger couples often experience marital instability. It is believed that curtailing early/child marriage in the country would go a long way in addressing marital stress.
