The power theory is a model explaining the interaction between parents and the school system represented by the teacher as a power sharing process, and applied it to the Nigerian school system. We looked at various ways by which the parents try to share power with the teachers in the learning process of their children, and find that the level parents in Nigeria share power with the teachers could still be considered low. But the level at which individual parents fare in this process is affected by the characteristics of the social class they belong to, and its attitude towards education.
