The study examined the socioeconomic and environmental effects of drought disaster on the inhabitants, the local strategies adopted to cope with the effect of drought and other problems the locals faced. The study adopted qualitative methodology and survey design. Primary data was obtained through interviews, group discussions and observations. Data was analyzed thematically. The study established that the presence of drought resulted into crop failure, loss of livestock, poverty, human-wildlife conflict and adoption of lifestyles adaptive to drought disaster.
