Kenya's agricultural production is characterized by growth of staple food such as maize and legumes which are grown primarily for self-consumption, with very little surplus remaining for the market. As a result, poor market participation for legumes manifests. Studies that have been conducted on leguminous crops have focused on other legumes such as beans and soybean but ignored ricebean crop.
