Prevalence And Difference In Obesity Among Urban And Rural Adolescents In South East Botswana
The main purpose of this study was to assess obesity prevalence among adolescents aged 15 years in Junior Secondary Schools in Gaborone and surrounding rural communities. Methods: Percent body fat was assessed using the bio-electrical impedance body fat monitor. This study used randomized-groups design to select a sample of 600 adolescents from rural and Gaborone Junior Secondary Schools. Results: The study found low obesity levels among urban and rural adolescent boys and girls from low socio-economic background.
