A comparative study of the prevalence rate of hypertension (PHT) and mean systolic blood (sBP) pressure between two Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Umunneochi and Ikwuano of Abia State of Nigeria, was undertaken. The sample for this study made up of 2146 patients, consisting of 1003 patients (286 males and 717 of females) from Umunneochi LGA, and 1143 patients, (342 males 801 females) from Ikwuano LGA, aged from 30 years and above, and whose blood pressure (BP) threshold was 140/90 mmHg, as set by the International Society of Hypertension.
