Contribution Of The Mangrove Forest Resources To The Livelihood Of The Andoni People Of Rivers State, Nigeria
A total of 150 people were randomly sampled from nine communities of the Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria to ascertain the impact of mangrove forest resource exploitation on their Social and Economic well-being. Data for demographic, social and economic importance of the mangrove forest to the Andoni people were generated by the use of questionnaires. The results showed that questionnaire response rate was 100%, with 79% of respondents between 30-60 years. 96.7% of respondents are engaged in mangrove-based occupation, with 90% of their Socio-Economic livelihoods dependent on the resources obtained from the mangroves. 82% of respondents sold above 50Kg mangrove resource p
