The prevalence of hypertension amongst adults in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria, its predisposing factors and its relationship with age and gender were evaluated. Results obtained indicated that out of the 1143 persons whose blood pressure values were checked, 526 were found to be hypertensive, representing 46.02% of the entire study population, while 617 persons representing 53.98% had normal blood pressure.
