Health Seeking Behaviour Of Attendees Of A Sexually Transmitted Infections Clinic, South-western Nigeria
Background: Anecdote evidence showed that sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are on the increase in Nigeria with its attendant’s public health problem and economic losses. Most patients with STI delay seeking treatment, while some treat themselves prior to seeking health care. There is a dearth of information on the initial health seeking action of STI clients who attend the Special Treatment Clinic (STC), University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan; this study therefore reviewed existing records of patients attending STC, in Ibadan.
Methods: It was a descriptive retrospective study that reviewed the records of 342 patients between January 2010 and December 2012.
