Kenya’s livestock exports contribution to the Gross Domestic Product range from 5.6 percent to 12.5 percent while the estimates for the contribution to Agricultural Gross Domestic Product range from 30 percent to 47 percent. Livestock exports have showed a moderate improvement during the last five years. Conversely, the country’s livestock export base that earns important foreign exchange is quite low and little has been done to empirically ascertain their performance and if this translates to any meaningful growth.
