Poliomyelitis or infantile paralysis is the name for the disease in which inflammation of the gray matter of the central nervous system occurs. It is an acute communicable disease usually characterized by fever, headache, stiffness of the neck and back and general discomfort. Virus causes poliomyelitis. After the onset of poliomyelitis the virus found in the secretions of the nose and throat. Late it appears in the fecal discharges, where it continue for a period of several weeks.
