The struggle for independence propelled the need for an African oriented education and the post-independence commissions deliberately sought to achieve these objectives which included the strengthening of the Early Childhood Education as the basic foundation of our education system. The development of Early Childhood Education however stagnated and successive governments turned a deaf ear on this very sensitive area.
