Menstruation is among the factors causing gender disparity in Kenya. Lack of access to menstrual products leads emotional and psychological stress among girls which results to school absenteeism or even dropping out of school altogether. The government of Kenya has tried to address this problem by providing sanitary pads to needy girls in public primary schools especially in arid and semi arid areas, pockets of poverty, urban informal settlement, and special schools. The study has critically examined the effectiveness of the implementation of the government policy of provision of the sanitary pads to needy girls in public primary schools.
