Though women are treated as equal as men before law, they do not get all the provisions which are available for men. Financial institutions are reluctant to provide loans to women. There arises the significance of micro finance institutions. Micro finance institutions play a vital role in the economic, social, political, legal, psychological and familial empowerment of women. Women empowerment means increasing the spiritual, political, social or economic strength of women. The main objective of the study is to analyse the role of micro finance institutions on the economic empowerment of women. The study reveals that there is a positive relationship between the two.
