Crude oil is one of the natural resources accessible for development of Nigeria economy which also poses great environmental challenges. As a result, the impacts of oil exploration activities on the wellbeing of host communities, like Ogoniland, have been of concern to Nigerian government. This paper, therefore, presents a baseline study of Ogoniland in the light of oil exploration in the community. Primary data used in this study were collected through a survey of 400 households using a multistage sampling technique. Data collected include information on socioeconomic and environment as well as marginal willingness to pay and accept pay.
