In Ghana, poultry and cattle are found almost everywhere. They also serve as food which contributes significantly to the protein intake of most Ghanaians. However, raw chicken and beef can also be a source of bacteria related foodborne illness of public health significance. This study sought to evaluate and compare the hygienic safety of raw beef and chicken sold in selected supermarkets and traditional markets in Accra metropolis. A cross sectional study design was used for this research and a total of 40 meat samples comprising of 20 beef and chicken respectively were equally and randomly selected from both types of markets involved in the study.
