Evaluation Of Alum (aluminium Sulphate) Treated Surface - Runoff Potential For Irrigation Of Abelmoschus Esculentus L. Moench During Early Seedling Growth And Development
Germination, early seedling growth and chlorophyll contents of Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench under varying concentrations of aluminium sulphate (alum) treated surface-runoff were investigated in the laboratory. The concentration levels of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 % of aluminium sulphate were used. Aluminium sulphate treated surface-runoff significantly (P < 0.05) decreased the percentage germination of the crop. Treatments with aluminium sulphate significantly (P < 0.05) decreased the shoot length, root length, fresh weight, dry weight and moisture content of Abelmoschus esculentus relative to the control.
