Demographics That Significantly Influence Fingerprints Quality In Afis
Research in the domain of Automated Fingerprints Identification Systems (AFIS) is advancing speedily. This study investigates the demographics that significantly influence the quality of fingerprints in AFIS of National Identification System (NIS) of Ghana. Demographics comprised of gender, date of birth (which was converted to age), region of birth, the region of residence and employment status of some hundred (100) Ghanaians. The subjects’ biometric data such as the fingerprint quality values for right thumb, right index, left thumb and left index are used. Results show that age has an influence on the quality of fingerprints in AFIS.
