Background: Oxidative stress plays a very significant role in the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease (SCD) and associated complications. Glutathione levels be used to estimate the degree of oxidative stress and thus predict the need for anti-oxidant therapy in the management of SCD. This study aims to assess the role of oxidative stress in the pathophysiology of vaso-occlusive crisis (VOC).
