Control Of Aphis Fabae Scopoli. Using Leaf Extracts Of Artemisia Annua Linn. And Thevetia Peruviana Schumann. On Solanum Scabrum Miller. During The Short And Long
African nightshade (Solanum scabrum) is an important vegetable in Kenya. However, consumer demands have not been met due to low yields per unit area due to attack by Aphis fabae Scopoli. As a result, using field experiments, this paper seeks to assess the efficacy of leaf extracts of Artemisia annua Linn. and Thevetia peruviana Schumann. against Aphis fabae infesting Solanum scabrum. Among the leaf extracts A. annua 1% significantly reduced the aphid population, had higher weight per plot of fresh and dry leaves, seeds, stems and lower number of damaged leaves per plot for both short and long rains seasons. Albaz 10 EC reduced aphids, had highest weight per plot of fresh and dry leaves, seed
