Growth Characteristics, Yield And Sex Ratio As Influenced By Pod Sections And Seed Position In Telfairia Occidentalis Landraces
A study was conducted in 2013 and 2014 early cropping seasons to assess the growth characteristics and yield of Telfairia occidentalis landraces as influenced by pod sections and seed positions. The experiment was located at Itu irrigation, Erosion and Flood Control Project Farm of the Cross River Basin Development Authority, Itu, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. A land area of 20m×24m was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with split-plot arrangement and replicated three times. Three fluted pumpkin landraces (“Nkene Ubong”, “Afia Ubong” and “Edem Aran”) constituted main treatments while seed position in pods (Head, Middle and Tail) constituted the sub-trea
