Sowing Date Influence On Performance And Yield Of Sorghum (sorghum Bicolor L. Moench) In The Nile Corridor Zone Of South Sudan
Sorghum is a popular crop amongst farmers in South Sudan because of its tolerance to high temperature and moisture constraints which make it more suitable compared to other cereals. However, poor yields and crop failure have emerged in recent years due to shrinking length of growing season. A field study involving sites, varieties and sowing dates was conducted under rain fed conditions of Bor (6.11° 24` N and 31° 36` E) and Arek (6.3° 8`N and 30.58° 26` E) in South Sudan. Sorghum varieties; Beer, Akuorachot, Dhet , Agany and Seredo were row-sown on 18th June, 29th June and 10th July following 2 x 3 x 5 factorial arrangement in RCBD with three replications.
