The Effects Of Temperature On The Growth And Yield Of Potato (solanum Tuberosum L.) A Review
Potato is a cool weather crop with temperature being the main limiting factor to production. For that reason, Potato is planted in early spring in temperate zones and late winter in warmer regions, and grown during the coolest months of the year in hot tropical climates. In general, higher temperatures favor vegetative growth and lower temperatures favor tuber growth. Tuber growth is sharply inhibited in temperatures below 100C and above 300C, while for optimum yields, mean daily temperatures should be 180C to 200C range. However, the effects of temperature on the growth and yield of the potato is much more complex one. Apart from the environmental factors and genetic differences, several ot
