Current Status Of Gwayi Forest In The Kalahari Sands Of Zimbabwe:zambezi Teak Diameter Class Distribution And Space Occupancy After 100 Years Of Selective Logging
An assessment of the current status of Gwayi forest was carried in four stands due for third cycle cutting in 2015 in light of the decline of teak due to selective logging. The objectives of the assessment were a) to assess the space occupancy percent of the commercial diameter classes using crown diameters derived from a diameter at breast height (dbh)-crown diameter regression b) to assess the diameter class distribution of the commercial diameter classes of teak and c) to evaluate options for re-growing Gwayi forest into the next cutting cycle in 2055. The Random Complete Block Design was used in the study.
