Studies On Haematology And Serum Biochemistry Of Broiler Chickens Finished On Varying Levels Of Baobab (adansonia Digitata) Leaf Meal As Replacement For Soybean Meal
The effect of Baobab (Adansonia digitata) leaf meal (BOLM) on haematology and serum indices of Broiler chickens was studied using 150 four weeks old broiler chicks. The birds were randomly assigned to five treatment groups of 30 birds with three replications of 10 birds each. The chicks were finished on five diets in which varying levels of soybean meal (SBM) were replaced by BOLM namely, 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Haemoglobin (Hb) was significantly (p < 0.05) higher in the 25% replacement group than the control. The RBC, PCV and Hb values for all the groups were within normal range while WBC revealed no significant (p > 0.05) difference among all the groups. The 75% replacement g
