The paper ascertained farmer's perceptions of the effect of floods on crop production in some rural communities in Delta State. One local government area in each of the senatorial districts of Delta state was selected from which two rural communities were chosen. Ten farmers from each of the rural communities were contacted to obtain their perceptions through questionnaires and personal interviews. The findings of the study shows that there was a remarkable change in the crops grown from mainly root and tuber crops before and during the flood period to vegetable crops; the size of farms in virtually all the areas deceased from the flood period to the post flood period.
