Productivity Enhancing Farm Practices And Influence On Farmers’ Income In The Savanna Region Of Nigeria
This study examines the productivity enhancing farm practices effect on farmers’ income in the Nigerian savanna belt. Data were obtained from 170 farmers and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression. The result presented average age of farmers, 42 years and household size 13.4 of range 3-29 people. Productivity enhancing practices like usage of chemicals, fertilizers, improved seeds, credit facilities, animal traction, tractor facilities, crop rotation practice, storage practice and crop processing were assessed and their influence found to significantly relate to the farmers’ income. Recommendations for adoption and improvement in extension linkages were made.
