The growing human and livestock population in many developing countries has led to competition for arable land between farmers and livestock keepers. This has led to clashes in many communities and necessitated the call for solution to the problems. Among the methods suggested to ease the problem is the establishment of ranches in order to limit the movement of livestock. The need to generate information on the nutritional content of locally available plants that could potentially be cultivated for animal feeding in ranches formed the basis for conducting this study.
