Prevalence, Pattern And Predictors Of Skin Lightening Product Use Among Women Attending Out-patient Clinic Of A Tertiary Hospital In North Central Nigeria
Background/Objectives: The use of skin lightening products (SLPs) is an age old practice among Africans and especially among Nigerians. This study aimed to determine the prevalence, patterns and predictors of SLPs use among adult women in a tertiary health facility. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted over 2 months on women patients aged 18-54 years with general medical problems as well as their companions during their wait in the waiting area of the general outpatient clinic. Results: A total of 267 eligible women were approached, but 263 women returned the questionnaire (98.5% response rate). The prevalence of SLP use was 20.5%.
