Assessment Of Effects Of Various Types Of Forest Fauna Food Resources Exploitation On The Livelihood Of Rural Households And Their Intensity Of Utilization In Benue
The study was conducted to assess the various types of forest fauna food resources exploitation and their intensity of utilization by rural house holds in Benue state, Nigeria. A purposive sample of 300 eligible respondents that participate in forest resources exploitation and utilization was considered for the study using a well structured interview schedule. The study revealed that the major fauna meat resource(56.6%) exploited by the rural households was bush meat, 51.7% exploited was reptiles. 70.0% of bush meat was found to be very highly intensively utilized and only 50.07% of birds were utilized by the rural households.
