Influence Of Horizontal Vegetation Heterogeneity On The Composition Of Avians In The Agricultural Landscape Of Muhoroni Sub-county, Western Kenya
Hitherto, no study has examined the influence of vegetation heterogeneity on avian composition in the degraded Muhoroni Sub-County habitats. This has made it arduous finding a balance between agricultural intensification and avian conservation. In response, we examined this phenomenon. We stratified the study area into agricultural farmlands and indigenous shrubs and conducted bird and vegetation surveys. Birds were sampled using point counts within a 30 m radius plot and the % vegetation cover estimated. We recorded 1405 birds representing 111 species from 46 families.
