In this paper we analyze the role of local leaders on small scale farmer’s adaptation to climate change in the 12 districts and 72 villages of Tanzania. We base our analysis on an integrated qualitative and quantitative dataset composed of questionnaire surveys carried out across a wide range of environments and agricultural systems. We found that majority of local leaders have high awareness on climate change and climate change adaptation, and they have been taking actions to raise community members’ awareness of climate change and climate change adaptation through village assembly meetings.
