Background: Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), is a disease condition caused by the virus; the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The HIV spread is of serious public health issue in developing countries particularly in Nigeria. This has triggered a lot of interventions in the region. In this light, we intend to see the rate of infections in Nembe communities in Bayelsa State South-South Nigeria to assess the effects of these interventions; the occurrence by sex and the age distribution of the infection.
