This paper assessed the core mandate of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) as a Public Service Broadcaster (PSB) in the light of the competitive global media landscape. The study sought to examine the level of compliance of GBC to its core mandate as a PSB and the operational efficiency. The research design is descriptive, qualitative and cross sectional in nature. Self-developed interview guide was used in conducting in-depth interview on fifty five respondents purposively selected from the staff of; GBC National Media Commission, other private broadcasting corporations and political parties. The analysis of the study indicated that GBC is not independent, lacks funding and unaccountable. Download
